The Y NSW is pumped to reopen doors at the Broken Hill Regional Aquatic Centre and the Integrated Wellness Centre from Monday, June 15 creating opportunities for youth and communities to connect, stay active and reimagine health and wellness goals in the new normal.
Following the NSW Government’s easing of restrictions, both facilities will open doors from June 15, with important new changes in place to help members and staff stay safe while staying fit.
“We are opening with the support of Broken Hill City Council in what are still uncertain times and want to reassure our patrons that these facilities will be following all NSW and Federal health advice with extensive social distancing and hygiene measures in place,” said Y NSW Area Manager Shane Simmons.
“These centres are places to enjoy and stay fit but more than that, they are vital hubs for community connection.”
The Y has installed a range of COVID Safe updates for the safety of our members and staff, including sneeze screens, social distancing floor markings, more hand sanitiser stations, on-site thermometers, increased cleaning and hygiene signage. All staff are receiving additional COVID Safe training and access to the centre will be limited. As per NSW Government restrictions, the following restrictions will apply:
At Broken Hill Regional Aquatic Centre:
- A maximum of 10 people in the Hydro pool
- A maximum of 18 swimmers in the 25m pool (three per lane)
- A maximum of 20 per group fitness class

At Broken Hill Integrated Wellness Centre:
- A maximum of 80 people on the gym floor at a time
- A maximum of 2 people per squash court
- A maximum of 20 people per group fitness class
