The Y welcomes fitness and gymnastics communities back at Caringbah

YMCA NSW (The Y) is excited to reopen doors at six centres across Sydney creating opportunities for youth and communities to connect, stay active and reimagine health and wellness goals in the new normal.

Following the NSW Government's easing of restrictions, doors opened to fitness members at Caringbah and Epping yesterday, June 24. Gymnastics will tumble back into action on Monday June 29 at Caringbah, Epping, Penrith, St Ives and Bankstown with important new changes in place to help members and staff stay safe.

"The Y know that our communities are busting to get back into our centres because they're more than just a place to stay fit, they are hubs of community connection," said Y NSW CEO Susannah Le Bron.

"We are opening in what are still uncertain times and want to reassure our patrons that these facilities will be following all NSW and Federal health advice with extensive social distancing and hygiene measures in place.

"We're especially excited to welcome our young gymnasts back on Monday, as we know the Y is like a second home for many of them.

"We've been jumping through hoops and over obstacles to ensure we're ready and cannot wait to see you all!"

The Y has developed COVID Safe policies and new fit-outs including the installation of protective screens, social distancing floor markings, more hand sanitiser stations, increased cleaning and hygiene signage. All staff have received additional COVID Safe training and access to the centre will be limited. As per NSW Government guidelines, the number of people in the facility must not exceed more than one person per four square metres (including staff) and restrictions on capacity will vary in each centre.

Fitness memberships recommenced on June 24, however an online booking system has been launched and bookings must be made for all group fitness classes and casual gym visits. To book at your local Y, please visit: https://www.ymcansw.org.au/make-a-booking/
Gymnastics families are encouraged to read the Y's Reboot Gymnastics Handbook to understand important changes to how classes are delivered.

As a leader in the recreation and wellness space, the latest openings follow the successful reopening of the Y's Broken Hill Integrated Wellness Centre on June 15 and eight contract sites across NSW and the ACT.
