Exciting News - Outdoor Pools reopening!

The Y is opening Ku-ring-gai Fitness and Aquatic Centre on Monday 27 September.

See below for information regarding opening hours and rules relating to attendance and usage of the facility.

Our opening times will be:

50m Pool for lap swimmers
Monday to Friday: 5.30am – 9pm
Saturday and Sunday: 7am – 6pm

Outdoor Program Pool for recreational swimmers
Monday to Friday: 11am – 4pm (School Holidays Only)
Saturday and Sunday: 11am – 4pm

Let’s quickly talk about money

As we’re opening for recreational and lap swimming only at this point, we are not reactivating direct debiting and invoicing for memberships and aquatic memberships.

Everyone will pay standard casual entry fees on entry as we transition our centres back to full reopening. We will assess our normal direct debit billing cycles when all our centres re-open to provide the full range of value at the Y. This includes Fitness Passport holders.

Let’s all keep COVIDSafe

The Y NSW is reopening its outdoor pools with the following conditions in place to ensure we keep everyone safe:
•             To maintain appropriate physical distancing we are capping the number of people to a pool lane to a maximum of 10.
•             The community will be able to take a recreational swim, or swim laps. Swimming classes and squad training has not recommenced yet.
•             We must maintain and limit groups outside. This is in line with existing Public Health Orders on outdoor gatherings. Therefore,
o             Family groups – maximum of five people: must include immediate family members only where everyone over 16 is fully vaccinated (not including children 12 years and younger).
o             Other groups – maximum of two people: Other groups must be a maximum of two, much like the ‘exercise buddy’ rule currently in place in the community.
•             It is essential that all patrons check in using the Service NSW QR code. We cannot allow you to enter otherwise.
•             It is essential that everyone (including our team) wears a mask with these exemptions:
o             Customers will not be required to wear a face mask where an exemption applies under the Public Health Order.
o             Children aged 12 and under are not required to wear masks, but it is encouraged where possible.
o             You do not need to wear a mask when swimming.
o             Our team will be wearing masks, however, lifeguards can remove their mask in the event of an emergency situation or to communicate instructions to customers.

Our indoor spaces will be closed in accordance with Government guidance, with the exception of change rooms and toilet facilities. We do, however, ask that our customers shower at home. We will be carefully managing the number of people using indoor facilities to ensure physical distancing is maintained.

  • Retail services will be available for essential items on display behind the counter, like goggles (for example).

We know it’s been a long time between swims, but please stay home if you feel unwell with COVID-19 symptoms and get tested.
We’re bringing our smile – please bring yours

The Y team is committed to opening our centres and welcoming the community back, and we can’t wait to see you all again.

We will be greeting you with a smile, and all we ask is that we get one in return. The health, wellbeing and safety of the community, and our people, is our top priority and we are adhering to the above listed requirements for this reason. It’s also the law.

We will provide guidance for our customers on how to ensure they stay COVID safe, there will be signage in place and our instructions will be given with courtesy. Please reciprocate in kind. We thank you in advance for your cooperation on this.
Our promise to you

We will continue to keep our communities up to date with the most current information regarding our services and any changes that may occur following NSW Government announcements.

Things are changing rapidly, and we are adapting with these changes.

The Y NSW is committed to doing all that we can to ensure the community and our team remains safe, healthy and COVID free. We really want to stay open for everyone.

Thanks to everyone for their support of the Y NSW as we spring back from lockdown, into the sunshine and into the pool.

Welcome back!

Yours sincerely,
Shane Simmons.
