After a year of dedicated work and training 10 local gymnasts from YMCA St Ives competed this weekend at Rooty Hill RSL in the prestigious 2015 Elite State Championships.
Two WAG National Level 10 gymnasts stood out in the competition. Jessica Wye who competed at WAG National Level 10, placed second on the balance beam and sixth on vault and bars. Jessica secured a position on the NSW team to compete next month at the 2015 Australian Gymnastics Championships in Melbourne. Kathryn Ramsay also performed strongly and narrowly missed third place on beam after a small vaulting error on day one. Kathryn was named reserve gymnast, and with a high overall score there are high expectations that she will get to represent NSW as an individual athlete next month.
The remaining 8 St Ives gymnasts competed at levels 7 and 8. Level 7 competitors included Abi Partridge, Giselle Finegag, Liana Smith, Amanda Riddell, Annika Hendriks and Laura Holmes. Level 8 competitors included Georgie File and Colette Hanna.
"I am extremely proud of all of our gymnasts. It is outstanding to see our two level 10s Jessica Wye and Kathryn Ramsay achieving this type of success," said gymnastics coordinator, Adam Rose.
