15 Nov 2016 - Media ReleasesRecreation

The title of Australia’s indoor rowing champion is up for grabs when Gungahlin Leisure Centre is a host for the inaugural Australian Indoor Rowing Championships on Saturday, 19 November.

Registrations are open to anyone – in fact, you don’t have to be a rower to participate. Entries will be accepted for anyone over 12 years, including for Para-Rowing and adaptive competitors, in individual and team categories.

YMCA Centre Manager Nicole Edney at Gungahlin Leisure Centre explained: “The Australian Indoor Rowing Championships are about challenging yourself to be your best – so whether you are a seasoned rower or someone who just wants to give it a try, we are encouraging everyone to enter.

“You’ll come away with a national ranking, and perhaps a medal, while having a great deal of fun in the process.

“Gungahlin Leisure Centre is proud to host this fantastic event and we hope to see as many of our members and the public enter and attend on the day to cheer on the competitors.”

Prizes include medals for place getters and the chance to compete in an international meet in the US.

Plus, $2 from every entry will go to the event’s charity partner, the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation, which supports people with brain tumours and funds research and care http://rcdfoundation.org
