YMCA NSW is excited to announce it has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer to drive its key focus areas of healthy living, social impact and empowering young people.
Susannah Le Bron will commence on 3 September, bringing with her more than 18 years of senior leadership experience including strategy development, operations and customer service delivery and innovation.
In her recent role as Executive Director Customer Service with Sydney Trains, Transport for NSW, Ms Le Bron was responsible for the leadership and accountability of 2,431 frontline customer service representatives across 178 stations and the experiences of more than one million travellers each day.
YMCA NSW Chair Richard Hughes said Ms Le Bron would be a fabulous asset to the organisation.
“We will benefit not only from her extensive leadership experience but also from her strong desire to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of communities, including its most vulnerable members,” Mr Hughes said.
“Ms Le Bron has a passion for supporting young people from falling through the gaps. She recently developed a business model she is trialling with educational specialists to help prepare students for post-school life.”
Prior to joining Sydney Trains, Ms Le Bron was at the helm of large teams in the airline industry including at Etihad Airways, where she was based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, as Senior Manager Ground Support.
For almost 15 years she held senior managerial roles at QANTAS including introducing innovations in customer service, relationship management and program transformation.
Ms Le Bron said she was attracted to organisations that had a history of providing a valuable service.
“YMCA is a global brand that I am keen to be a part of,” she said. “I want to ensure that Y NSW is a continued provider of outstanding service to the communities it currently serves and to those it will support in the future.”
Ms Le Bron believes the customer should always be placed at the centre. She developed a customer experience model that increased the customer satisfaction of Sydney Trains from 78 per cent to 90 per cent. For her outstanding achievements, including a stint as Sydney Trains CEO, Ms Le Bron last month received the prestigious Top 50 Most Influencing Women in the Public Sector award.
Ms Le Bron is well respected for celebrating the success of her team members and encouraging their aspirations. She is a strong advocate for women in the workplace including in leadership roles.
“I am motivated by helping to open up opportunities for others and always adding value in what I do,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to building on the great three years’ work of former YMCA NSW CEO Leisa Hart who resigned in June to focus on the needs of her family and ageing parents.”
Lisa Giacomelli has successfully steered YMCA NSW as Interim CEO and will provide guidance to Ms Le Bron during her transition into the role.
