The Y spirit is coming to Blayney this weekend

The YMCA NSW (the Y) will officially move in as manager of the recently refurbished CentrePoint Sport and Leisure Centre this Saturday, August 29. The organisation is inviting the community to come on down and check out the range of new features including the café, retail space and functional fitness area.

Almost 300 locals have already expressed interest in joining the Y at the impressive centre with memberships officially on sale from Wednesday, August 26.

“We can’t wait to welcome the Blayney community, invite them to meet the team and see what the Y has to offer! In addition to the recently renovated pool hall by Council, the Y have installed an extra versatile fitness space catering for weightlifting, personal training and circuit training and a jam-packed group fitness timetable developed by and for the local community,” Area Manager Shane Simmons said.

“The timetable includes new programming for the community including our PRYME classes for participants 55 years and older, focusing on positive social engagement using exercise as the common denominator.

“Our energetic team of more than 20 Blayney locals can’t wait to introduce their town to its new home of fitness, wellness and community connection.”

Mayor Scott Ferguson is confident that the Y will provide the services that our community needs with their experience and level of service.

“It is such a great facility with the recent upgrades and new equipment, I am looking forward to the community being able to use it to its full potential,” said Cr Ferguson.

The Y NSW CEO Susannah Le Bron and Blayney Council representatives will be on site from 11am for a small celebration on opening day and a number of free activities will be available for the community throughout the day including a newly purchased pool inflatable and Learn to Swim assessments.

Entry to the pool and gym will be free all day, however visitors must sign in upon arrival. Extensive COVID-Safe measures including a Hygiene Marshall will be in place from opening to ensure the community can work out or drop in to inspect the space safely.

The Centre will open from 9am on Saturday, August 29 with Swim School commencing from Monday August 31.
